In-person payments carry a lower risk of fraudulent charges. Because of this, our credit card processor, Stripe, offers lower processing fees when you collect payments in person.

Merchants who use chip-capable card readers to accept payment cards are not liable for any fraudulent-type disputes filed. The card-issuing bank is responsible for these types of disputes.

  • Your card readers are chip-capable

  • You are still responsible for other dispute types listed here

Other online credit and debit card transactions are 2.9% + $.30 per transaction. With a card reader and in-person payments, these fees drop to 2.7% + $.30 per transaction. As always, the same fees apply to any credit card, meaning you can accept all cards without worrying about higher fees.

In-person payments require an active WiFi connection.
