This feature is available on all Goodshuffle Pro Plans.

Choosing your search mode

Click the dropdown next to the search bar to select:

  • Query search (default): Advanced search using AND/OR logic

  • Exact match: Find items by precise name

Your search mode stays selected as you continue searching.

Query search (AND/OR logic)

Use Query search when you need to search across multiple fields or combine criteria.

  • Item name

  • Description

  • Categories

  • Custom fields

AND Logic – Match All Criteria

To find items that match all search terms:

  1. Type your search terms separated by spaces.

  2. Press Enter.

  • Examples:

    • table round → Finds items with both “table” AND “round”

    • chair gold 72 → Finds items that match all three terms

OR Logic – Match Any Criteria

To find items that match any of your search terms:

  1. Type OR (in all caps) between terms.

  2. Press Enter.

  • Examples:

    • chair OR stool → Finds items with either “chair” OR “stool”

    • linen OR napkin OR tablecloth → Finds any of those items

This is helpful when browsing similar inventory types.

Combine AND/OR:

You can mix both types of logic in one search

  • Examples:

    • (chair OR stool) wood
→ Finds items with (“chair” OR “stool”) AND “wood”

    • table (round OR rectangle) 60
→ Finds tables that are round or rectangle AND mention “60”

This gives you powerful control when filtering large inventories.

Exact match

This mode:

  • Searches item names only

  • Returns exact matches

  • Excludes similar variations

Example:

Searching Round Table will return only items named exactly “Round Table.”

It will not return:

  • “Rectangle Table”

  • “Round Coffee Table”

Exact Match is faster when you want one specific item without browsing similar results.

When to Use Each Mode

Use Query Search When You:

  • Need to search categories, descriptions, or custom fields

  • Want items that match multiple criteria (e.g., gold chair chiavari)

  • Are browsing or exploring similar items

  • Don’t know the exact item name

Use Exact Match When You:

  • Know the exact item name

  • Want to quickly open one specific item

  • Are getting too many results with Query Search

  • Need to find a single item fast

Using the right search mode can save you time and make managing large inventories much easier.
