Let's say you want to remind your clients the day before a payment is due or send them an overdue payment reminder.
Step 1: Enable and Customize Payment Notifications
To automatically notify your clients when a payment is due:
Select “Account” > “Settings.”
Scroll to the Notification Settings section.
Toggle on the following options:
Send ‘Upcoming Payment’ notifications (for proactive alerts before the due date)
Send ‘Payment Due’ notifications (for same-day reminders)
You can also:
Add a delay for payments due upon signature.
Choose how frequently payment reminders are repeated.
Set the number of times a reminder is sent.
Please note: This will cue up a message for every unarchived project with an upcoming payment.
Step 2: Turn Payment Reminders On or Off per Project
You can enable or disable payment reminders on a project-by-project basis. This is helpful if you want to pause reminders for a specific event or client.
To do this:
Open the project you want to edit.
Click the gear icon labeled “Settings” in the top-right of the project screen.
Scroll to the Notifications section.
Use the checkboxes to:
Enable/disable upcoming payment reminders
Enable/disable payment due reminders
Step 3: Customize Your Message
You can personalize the content of your Payment Due or Upcoming Payment reminders by editing the default templates.
To do this:
Go to the Messages section in the left-hand menu.
Click on Templates.
Select either the “Payment Due” or “Upcoming Payment” template from the list.
Edit the subject line and message body to match your brand tone.
Best practices for editing:
Include the client’s name using personalized tokens.
Keep your message friendly and proactive.
Note: Account Owners and Admins can also customize the frequency of these reminders directly in the default “Payment Due” email template.
