Written by Sierra Burton

This feature is available on all Goodshuffle Pro Plans.

Here is more information on the Stripe processing fees per payment method, payment type, and dispute fees.

📌 Some fees are region-specific. Each section calls out where it applies (U.S., Mexico, or all regions).

Quick Reference

  • U.S. & Canada Card: 2.9% + $0.30 per charge + 0.25% Stripe transfer fee

  • Mexico Card (domestic): 3.6% + MXN$3.00 per charge

  • ACH: 1% per charge, capped at $60 (no Stripe transfer fee). U.S. only.

  • Instant Bank Payment (IBP): 2.5% per charge, no cap, U.S. only

  • Buy Now, Pay Later (Affirm): 6% + $0.30 per transaction + 0.25% Stripe transfer fee

  • International Fee: 2% (U.S.) or 2.5% flat (Mexico), applied when currencies don't match

  • Dispute Fee: $15 to receive + $15 if the challenge is lost ($30 max per dispute, U.S.)

Stripe U.S. & Canada Card Fees

Stripe's fee for debit and credit card transactions is 2.9% + $0.30 per charge in both the U.S. and Canada. Stripe refers to this as the "Transaction Fee."

On top of the transaction fee, Stripe charges a 0.25% transfer fee on the total after the processing fee. So the full per-charge cost is 2.9% + $0.30 + 0.25% transfer fee.

There is no surcharge for AMEX or Mastercard, and no surcharge for keyed-in entries versus client-entered cards.

For full details and examples of vendor-pays vs. client-pays math, see Debit and Credit Card Stripe Fees here.

Stripe Mexico Card Fees

For Mexican vendors, Stripe charges:

  • 3.6% + MXN$3.00 per successful charge on domestic cards

  • 2.5% flat International Fee when the card currency differs from MXN

Bank-to-bank (ACH) payments are not available for Mexican vendors at this time.

Stripe ACH Fees

🇺🇸 US accounts only: ACH payments are available to Goodshuffle Pro accounts based in the United States. Accounts in other regions won't see this option.

Stripe's fee for ACH (bank transfer / eCheck) transactions is 1%, capped at $60 per charge.

There is no Stripe transfer fee on ACH payments.

For client-pays vs. vendor-absorbs examples, see What Are Stripe's ACH Fees?

Stripe Instant Bank Payment (IBP) Fees

🇺🇸 US accounts only: Instant Bank Payments are available to Goodshuffle Pro accounts based in the United States.

Every Instant Bank Payment carries a 2.5% processing fee with no cap. The vendor can choose to absorb the fee or pass it to the client through their Payment Policies.

Other IBP rules to keep in mind:

  • Per-charge limit: Individual charges are capped at under $5,000. Charges at or above that won't show IBP as an option.

  • Settlement: Within 2 business days (vs. 3–5 business days to clear plus 1–2 to settle for standard ACH).

  • Eligibility: The project must be inside the ACH cutoff window and cannot use a net payment policy.

For full eligibility rules and dispute handling, see Instant Bank Payments: Fees, Limits, and Eligibility.

Buy Now, Pay Later (Affirm) Fees

The Buy Now, Pay Later fee is 6% + $0.30 per transaction. Stripe also charges a 0.25% transfer fee on the total after the processing fee, so the full cost is 6% + $0.30 + 0.25% transfer fee.

Affirm does not charge integration, monthly, or annual fees.

Note: Due to state and jurisdiction laws, Affirm fees cannot be passed to clients. Vendors absorb the full cost.

Example: $10,000 BNPL Purchase

  • $600.00 = 6% BNPL fee

  • $23.80 = 0.25% Stripe transfer fee + $0.30 transaction fee

  • Total fees: $623.80

Stripe International Fee

Stripe applies an International Fee (also called a Foreign Exchange or FX fee) when the client's card currency does not match the currency the vendor's account settles in.

  • U.S. vendors: 2% per charge, in addition to the standard card fee and transfer fee

  • Mexico vendors: 2.5% flat, in addition to the standard card fee

Example: a U.S. vendor accepting a payment from a card billed in EUR would see the 2.9% + $0.30 standard fee, the 0.25% transfer fee, and the 2% International Fee.

Stripe Dispute Fees

When a client files a dispute, Stripe charges fees in two stages:

  • $15 when the dispute is first received

  • $15 if the vendor challenges the dispute and loses

Total: up to $30 per dispute for U.S. vendors. If the challenge is won, only the initial $15 fee applies.

💡 Dispute fees may vary by country. For U.S. vendors, each event is $15.

Dispute Fees can be reviewed and downloaded from your Subscriptions tab. For more, see How Dispute Fees Work and Where to See Them.
