If your Goodshuffle Financial account is showing a negative balance after enabling QuickBooks Online, here's why it happens and how to fix it.
A negative balance in your Goodshuffle Financial account usually points to a project that was paid out before your QuickBooks Online integration was activated. Here's what's happening and how to resolve it.
How Money Moves Into Your Bank
Each payout from Goodshuffle Pro into your bank account is made up of two separate transactions:
Deposit — Money moves into your Goodshuffle Financial account.
Transfer — Money moves out of your Goodshuffle Financial account and into your Checking or Savings account.
Both transactions need to sync to QuickBooks Online for your Goodshuffle Financial balance to stay accurate.
Why You're Seeing a Negative Balance
When you first enable the QuickBooks Online integration, only projects that are created and signed after activation will sync automatically. This is by design — it prevents duplicate entries from older projects already in your books.
Here's where the negative balance comes from: if you had a project that was already signed before the integration was activated, and a payout was later made on that project, the integration will only bring the Transfer over to QuickBooks Online — not the matching Deposit.
The result: money leaves your Goodshuffle Financial account through the Transfer, but no Deposit is recorded coming in. That gap shows up as a negative balance.
How to Fix It
Enable sync on the related project. Open the project tied to the Transfer/Deposit and turn on Auto Sync. See How to Sync a Project Created Before Enabling the QuickBooks Online Integration for step-by-step guidance.
Resync the Deposit. Once the project is synced, the matching Deposit can be brought into QuickBooks Online to balance the Transfer.
