Here is a breakdown of the most common questions, concerns, and misunderstandings about Event Insurance.

Event Host Liability Insurance is a feature in Goodshuffle Pro that provides vendors with added protection and allows clients to easily purchase the coverage they already need.


Why is Event Insurance now enabled by default for new clients?

Event insurance is enabled by default to make it easier for your clients to opt in to coverage that protects them and you during the rental period. Many businesses told us that clients either don’t understand the importance of event insurance or forget to ask for it. By turning it on automatically for new clients (you can disable it), we help bridge that education gap and reduce your exposure to uncovered losses.

Value Add: More clients get protection by default, reducing the number of disputes, liability risks, and finger-pointing if something goes wrong.


Can I turn it off globally or for certain clients?

Yes. You have full control.

  • To disable the insurance offer globally, visit your Event Insurance Integration Settings.

  • To turn it off for individual clients, uncheck the box when creating or editing the client in your CRM.

I already have Inland Marine, General Liability, and Workers' Comp. Why would I want to offer this?

Your commercial policies protect your business. This event insurance protects your client and reduces the chance your coverage is impacted by their accident.

If your client damages or loses your gear and doesn’t have insurance, you may be forced to file a claim under your own Inland Marine (IM) policy. That affects:

  • Your premiums

  • Your deductible

  • Your claim history and drop risk

With event insurance, your client’s third-party policy becomes primary and your policy stays untouched.

Value Add: Prevent claims on your IM, avoid premium hikes, and reduce drop risk.


Doesn’t this overlap with my damage waiver? Won’t it confuse clients?

It’s a common concern, but they serve different functions:

These tools work together. Think of the waiver as a small “oops” fee, and insurance as coverage for the catastrophic “uh-oh” scenarios.

Value Add: You keep your damage waiver as-is, and clients gain extra protection for edge-case losses.


I require my clients to buy insurance already. Doesn’t this undermine that?

Not at all. Some vendors interpret “I require insurance” to mean clients must show proof or sign a waiver. Others may have separate deals with third-party providers.

This policy gives you a low-lift, turnkey alternative that:

  • Includes Event Host Liability (EHL) up to $2 million

  • Includes Inland Marine coverage for rented equipment up to $10k

  • Offers protection that often exceeds what clients get elsewhere

Even if your clients already get insurance elsewhere, you can opt them out, or leave the offer visible as a backup.

How much coverage is actually provided? Is it enough?

We’ve seen claims that the limits are low. That’s not accurate.

  • The EHL policy includes $2,000,000 in liability coverage, a standard in the events industry

  • The Inland Marine portion covers rented equipment losses up to $10,000, depending on eligibility and claim details

  • It includes Primary and Non-Contributory coverage and Waiver of Subrogation. These are premium protections, not basic add-ons

Value Add: Industry-standard liability + meaningful gear protection = strong shield for companies and clients.


What happens if my client damages or loses my equipment?

If the client has opted into event insurance:

  • They can file a claim through their policy

  • The insurance covers eligible losses (after deductible)

  • You get reimbursed, without impacting your own insurance

If they don’t opt in and don’t have other insurance, you may need to eat the cost or pursue the client directly.

Value Add: Transfer risk away from your books. Sleep better at night.


Why didn’t you just offer vendors a commission if clients opt in?

We considered it. But after running the numbers, most vendors would earn single-digit dollars per event. By contrast, a single claim payout (e.g. $15K for damaged staging) offers far more value.

In fact, vendors who want to create their own referral model would often be offering:

  • Less comprehensive insurance (e.g. no Inland Marine)

  • Higher client friction (external forms, links, emails)

Value Add: Bigger net benefit in paid claims than in micro commissions.


Is this just a money grab by Goodshuffle Pro?

We’ve heard this worry, and we understand it, so here’s the full context:

  • Goodshuffle Pro isn’t charging vendors anything

  • Clients are never required to purchase

  • Vendors have full control to disable it

  • This is about risk mitigation, not margin maximization

We’re responding to a major pain point in the industry: uninsured damage that vendors are stuck covering.

Value Add: No cost to you. Less risk to you. More protection for all.


Is this legal? What if I operate in NY or CA?

In states like New York where certain coverages are regulated, our offerings are compliant and optional to the client. We never force purchase or modify your terms.

Value Add: Built to work within compliance guidelines across the U.S.


My own insurance rates are already high. What if I still have to file claims?

Exactly, that’s the point. We designed this to be the first line of defense, so your own policies are used less, not more.

Value Add: Stop letting your own insurance carry 100% of the weight.


What kind of insurance is being offered?

Two types of coverage are included in the Event Insurance feature:

  • Event Host Liability Insurance: Covers bodily injury or property damage that occurs at the event venue

  • Inland Marine Insurance: Covers your rental inventory from the moment it leaves your warehouse to the moment it returns, including loss, theft, or damage


Is this coverage always included?

No. Your client must actively opt in and purchase the coverage during checkout in the Client View. If they don’t qualify, the offer won’t appear.


Does this replace my general liability insurance?

No. This is complementary coverage.

  • General Liability = Protects your staff, warehouse, and business operations

  • Embedded Insurance = Covers damage/loss in transit or at the event site


Who pays the deductible if there’s a claim?

The client is the policyholder and is responsible for the $500 deductible.


Who files the claim?

You, as the vendor, can file the claim directly with ViCoverage as an additional insured. There’s no need to rely on the client to initiate it.


How do I explain this isn’t insurance from me?

Let your clients know:

  • The policy is provided by ViCoverage, not your business

  • All quotes and emails related to the insurance will show ViCoverage branding

  • You’re simply enabling access. You are not selling or underwriting the insurance


What makes a client ineligible for Event Insurance?

If a client doesn’t meet eligibility criteria set by the insurance provider (such as event type or location), the insurance option will not be displayed in the Client View.


What happens if the client declines the insurance?

If the client chooses not to purchase insurance:

  • The offer becomes less prominent, but can still be accessed from their quote

  • If they later become ineligible, the option will be removed entirely


What about weather-related damage?

  • Event Host Liability may cover third-party property damage caused by weather (e.g., a tent flying into a parked car)

  • Inland Marine may cover weather-related damage to your rental items


Is this insurance available in Canada?

No. Currently, the Event Host Liability Insurance feature is only available to vendors and clients within the United States.


Can I require my clients to purchase insurance?

No. The insurance is always optional. You can educate your clients on its benefits, but the decision to purchase lies with them.


I’m still not convinced. What are the alternatives?

You always have the choice to:

  • Turn off the feature globally

  • Use your own insurance relationships

  • Educate clients directly and manage risk your way

This feature simply gives you another tool, one that’s built-in, easy to manage, and can offer peace of mind to you and your clients.
