Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Goodshuffle Pro account. This article explains:

  • The difference between authenticator codes and recovery codes

  • How to reset 2FA using your recovery code

  • What to do if your recovery code doesn’t work

Understanding Your 2FA Codes

There are two different codes involved in 2FA — they do different things and it's important not to confuse them.

6-Digit Authenticator Code

16-Digit Recovery Code

What it is

Generated by your authenticator app

Shown once during initial 2FA setup

When you use it

Every login, after your password

Only if you lose access to your authenticator app

Expires?

Every 30 seconds

Single-use — expires immediately after use

Where to find it

Open your authenticator app

Wherever you saved it during setup

⚠️ Important: Save your recovery code in a secure place when setting up 2FA.

Transferring 2FA to a New Phone

If you still have your old phone — do this first

Authy users:

  1. Enable multi-device in Authy

    1. On your old phone: Authy → Settings → Devices → Allow Multi-Device

  2. Install Authy on new phone

    1. Log in with the same phone number to sync your accounts

  3. Disable multi-device

    1. Once the new phone is set up, turn off multi-device on your old phone to deauthorize it

Google Authenticator users:

  1. Open the transfer screen

    1. On your old phone: Google Authenticator → three dots → Transfer accounts → Export accounts

  2. Scan on new phone

    1. Install Google Authenticator on your new phone and scan the QR code to import

  3. Verify

    1. Confirm your Goodshuffle Pro code works on the new phone before wiping the old one

If you've already switched phones (old phone is gone)

You'll need your recovery code to regain access.

  1. Go to login

    1. Visit pro.goodshuffle.com and enter your email and password

  2. Enter your recovery code

    1. When prompted for your 2FA code, enter your 16-digit recovery code instead (format: xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx)

  3. Re-enroll

    1. Your old 2FA will be cleared. Go to Account → Security and follow the setup steps to enroll fresh with your new phone

  4. Save your new recovery code

    1. You'll receive a new recovery code. Save it immediately

How to Recover Access Using Your 16-Digit Recovery Code

Your recovery code is a one-time-use emergency access code. Use it only when you can't access your authenticator app.

⚠️ Recovery codes are single-use

The moment you use one, it becomes invalid. Make sure to save the new code you receive after re-enrolling.

Why your recovery code might not work

  • It may have already been used — recovery codes expire immediately after use

  • You may have entered it incorrectly — it must be all 16 characters in this format: xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx

  • You may have the wrong code — if you've enrolled multiple times, you may have an older, invalid code saved

If you no longer have access to your authenticator app:

  1. Log in to Goodshuffle Pro.

  2. When prompted for your 2FA code, enter your 16-digit recovery code instead.

  3. This will remove your previous 2FA setup.

Next, you’ll need to set up 2FA again:

  1. Go to your “Profile Settings” (top-right corner of your screen).

  2. Navigate to “Security.”

  3. Follow the prompts to enable Two-Factor Authentication.

  4. Scan the new QR code with your authenticator app.

  5. Save your new 16-digit recovery code in a secure location.

💡 Tip: Delete any outdated Goodshuffle Pro entries from your authenticator app before re-adding the new one. Do not delete the app itself.

Can Goodshuffle Pro Send Me my Recovery Code or a new Recovery Code?

The system cannot resend or regenerate recovery codes automatically. However:

  • Account Owners can generate a new backup code for any team member (except themselves) from Subscriptions → three dots next to the user's name → Generate Backup Code

  • If you are the Account Owner and have lost your own recovery code, contact support via the blue chat bubble

Manual Reset by Support

If you've lost both your phone and your recovery code, our support team can verify your identity and reset your 2FA manually.

  1. Start a chat

    1. Click the blue chat bubble in the bottom-right corner of the screen

  2. Identity verification

    1. We'll verify your identity via a secure screen share — have your driver's license ready

  3. Reset completed

    1. Once verified, we'll reset your 2FA so you can re-enroll

🛑 We can only reset 2FA after successful identity verification

This protects you in case someone else is trying to access your account.

Keeping Your 2FA Secure Going Forward

  • Store your recovery code offline — not in your password manager

  • If using Authy, enable multi-device before you switch phones

  • If using Google Authenticator, use Export Accounts before you switch phones

  • Never share your recovery code with anyone

  • Set up 2FA on a device you'll always have access to
