Why This Happens

If your tax report shows a state sales tax total that doesn’t match the county sales tax total, this usually means that some projects only have state tax applied, and no county or city tax has been added.

When only the state sales tax is assigned to a project:

  • The report includes only that rate.

  • No county or city tax is charged for that project.

What the Report Shows

When you download your Sales Tax Report, you’ll see totals broken out by:

  • State

  • County

  • City

If the State total is higher than the County total, it means that some projects are missing a corresponding county tax.

How to Fix It

Step 1: Add Missing Tax Types

Go to your Account Settings and add a County or City Tax Type for any locations where it's missing.

Step 2: Recalculate Tax on Unsigned Projects

For any projects that haven’t been signed yet, you’ll need to recalculate tax after updating your tax types.
