Early Fraud Warnings are issued by Visa and Mastercard flagging a potentially fraudulent charge. These alerts (listed below) are passed through our payment processor, Stripe, and forwarded to the account owner. 80% of Early Fraud Warnings escalate into a dispute. You can learn more on disputes here.Early Fraud Warnings can surface shortly after the charge is processed, weeks or even months later, and occasionally even after a fraud dispute has already started. These warnings are generated by card issuers and flagged through patterns or cardholder reports before being passed to platforms like Goodshuffle Pro.
If the cardholder is a repeat client or someone you trust, you should contact them immediately to confirm the charge and document the conversation. Collect relevant evidence, such as contracts, delivery records, and communications, to strengthen your case. Based on this investigation, decide whether refunding the charge is necessary.
