What is an Early Fraud Warning?

If you receive an early fraud warning, refund the charge as soon as possible to prevent the cardholder from disputing the charge. You can issue an online refund here.

Early Fraud Warnings are issued by Visa and Mastercard flagging a potentially fraudulent charge. These alerts (listed below) are passed through our payment processor, Stripe, and forwarded to the account owner. 80% of Early Fraud Warnings escalate into a dispute. If the cardholder is a repeat client or someone you trust, it may not be necessary to refund the charge. You should contact the cardholder immediately and confirm the charge before issuing a refund.
