How Do I Take a Screenshot?

Here are the best practices for taking a screenshot using a PC or a Mac.

Sometimes, the fastest way to get help is to send a screenshot. Whether you're reporting a bug, asking a question, or showing us what you're seeing on your screen, screenshots help us help you faster!

Here’s how to take and send a screenshot on both PC and Mac computers.


How to Take a Screenshot on a PC (Windows)

Option 1: Use the Snipping Tool (Windows 10 and 11)

  1. Click the Start Menu and search for “Snipping Tool.”

  2. Click New to start a screenshot.

  3. Drag your mouse to select the area you want to capture.

  4. Save the image or use the copy tool to paste it directly into a chat or email.

Pro Tip: You can also press Windows + Shift + S to launch the Snipping Tool instantly.


Option 2: Print Screen Key

  1. Press the PrtScn (Print Screen) key to capture the entire screen.

  2. Open an image program like Paint or a document/email and press Ctrl + V to paste.

  3. Save the file, or send it directly.


How to Take a Screenshot on a Mac

Option 1: Capture Part of Your Screen

  1. Press Command + Shift + 4.

  2. Drag to select the area you want to capture.

  3. The screenshot will automatically save to your desktop.

Option 2: Capture the Whole Screen

  1. Press Command + Shift + 3.

  2. The full screen will be saved as a file to your desktop.

How to Share a Screenshot

Once you’ve taken your screenshot:

  • Drag and drop it directly into the chat bubble on our site.
