How Can I Price an Item for a Minimum Hourly Period, But Then Charge for Additional Hours, or Half Hours?

Here's how you can use Hourly Pricing to charge your clients for a minimum rental period, and charge them for additional portions of hours.

This feature is available on all Goodshuffle Pro Plans.

If you have an item that is rented for a minimum of 3 hours, but $100.00 for each additional hour, you can set the pricing as below:

In that example, my client will always be charged $500.00 for the minimum rental period of 3 hours, but if they rent it for 4 hours, they'll be charged $600.00.

Two important things to know about how this pricing works:

1. The "each additional" interval is locked to the unit you choose. If you set the additional time to break down by 1 hour, every block beyond the minimum is 1 hour. If you set it to 2 hours, every additional block is 2 hours, and the system will only step up the price in those 2-hour increments. You cannot mix a 2-hour minimum with a 1-hour additional rate, for example.

2. The dollar amount you enter is the total for one full additional block — not a per-hour rate inside that block. If your additional block is 2 hours and you want to charge $150 per hour for that time, you would enter $300 in the additional-time field (not $150).

For example, if you have an item that rents for $750 for the first 2 hours and you want to charge $150 per hour after that, you would set the pricing like this:

  • Minimum time booked: 2 hours at $750

  • Each additional: 2 hours at $300 (which equals $150 per hour)

A 4-hour rental would then total $1,050 ($750 for the first 2 hours + $300 for the additional 2-hour block).

Another example would be if I wanted to charge them $100.00 for each half hour, I'd set it as below:
