General Questions

What is the Barcoding feature in Goodshuffle Pro?

Barcoding helps vendors streamline their fulfillment process by allowing them to generate, print, and scan barcodes. With Barcoding, you can:

  • Check items in and out during Pull, Prep, Load, and Return.

  • Link existing barcodes to inventory items.

  • Scan an item to quickly view its details.

Who can use the Barcoding feature?

The Barcoding feature in Goodshuffle Pro can be used by Account Owners, Admins, Full Users, and Limited Users. Not sure what the difference is between these user permissions? Learn more here.

What type of barcodes does Goodshuffle Pro support?

Currently, Goodshuffle Pro supports QR codes. These barcodes link directly to inventory items in the system for easy access and tracking.

Does Goodshuffle Pro support RFID?

No.

Can I customize and generate my own codes?

No.

Does everyone who needs to scan inventory require a seat in Goodshuffle Pro?

Yes. Anyone scanning or handling inventory through Goodshuffle Pro will need their own seat on your account. This ensures full accountability and accurate tracking of who is checking items in and out, even if they are contractors or temporary staff.

Does barcoding only work for large items?

Not at all! While barcoding is especially useful for large pieces like furniture or AV equipment, many users also get creative with smaller items. For example, some have placed barcode labels on warehouse shelves, linen bags, or bins to easily scan and track flatware, linens, and other small inventory.

When will each item have its own unique barcode instead of one barcode for all the same items?

Each barcode in Goodshuffle Pro is already unique, even for identical products. This means you can track individual units separately. For example, if one chair in a set is damaged, you can mark that specific unit as “Set Aside” without affecting the rest of the chairs.

Is there a way to keep rental prices hidden from the warehouse crew?

Yes! Limited Users accessing the Mobile Fulfillment Home will not see any pricing information. This way, your warehouse team can handle pulling, scanning, and returning items without visibility into rental rates.

Barcode Printing

What browser do you recommend for viewing and printing barcodes?

Google Chrome or Safari Browser.

Can I bulk-generate barcodes for multiple items?

Yes, you can bulk-generate barcodes for selected inventory items by selecting your Inventory items and clicking 'Print Barcodes'

What size labels are recommended?

We recommend using labels that are 2.625" x 1" for the best performance with barcode scanning.

If you're using a standard printer:

  • Use A4 or Letter-size sticky label sheets.

  • Look for templates like Avery 5160 or Avery 8160.

⚠️ Avoid using plain printer paper unless you're just testing—labels are much easier to apply and last longer.

How can I reprint a barcode if it gets damaged?

You will go through the Print Flow process to reprint the barcode. Learn more: How to Print Barcodes for your Inventory

Why can I only print as many labels as I have in my inventory?

To keep your barcodes accurate and prevent duplicates, Goodshuffle Pro limits label printing to the quantity currently in your inventory. For example, if you have 5 chairs in inventory, you'll only be able to print 5 barcode labels for that item. This ensures:

  • Each item has a unique and scannable barcode.

  • You don’t accidentally over-label or mislabel items.

  • Your inventory stays in sync with physical assets.

⚠️Need more labels? You’ll need to update your inventory quantity first.

Barcode Linking & Scanning

Can I link an existing barcode to an item, or is there a way to assign specific asset numbers to inventory items?

Each barcode in Goodshuffle Pro is automatically unique for each unit. If you’d like to assign more specific serial numbers or track items with your own numbering system, we recommend using Pools.

Can I use my mobile device to scan and link barcodes?

Yes! You can use your phone or tablet’s camera to scan and link barcodes to inventory items—no additional hardware required. For quick access, we recommend bookmarking the mobile scanning tool to your home screen.

What happens when I scan a barcode?

You’ll be instantly redirected to that item’s page in Goodshuffle Pro.

Depending on your user seat from there, you can:

  • Move your item through the necessary fulfillment stages.

  • View item details, including availability and notes. Learn more about scanning during check-in

Can I undo a check-in or check-out action?

Yes, users (excluding read-only users) can undo a previous check-in/out action.

Does scanning an item update the project audit log?

Yes! Whenever you check an item in or out by scanning, that action is automatically recorded in the project’s audit log and scanning logs.

Is there an app I can use to scan?

There’s no separate app to download, but you can easily scan using your phone’s camera.

How can I configure the camera to open automatically without needing approval?

Adjust your browser settings to allow persistent camera access:

  • iPhone (Safari):

    • Settings > Safari > Camera > Allow.

    • Or tap “aA” > Website Settings > Allow Camera Access.

  • Android (Chrome):

    • Open the barcode scanning page.
